Finance Manager (Finance)
Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will assist the corporate controller in directing and managing the organization's accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Along with the Controller, create an accountable, communicative, team-oriented environment such that the operations and finance teams are striving to achieve and exceed expectations.
2. Help to develop a "service culture" among Finance / Accounting personnel.
3. Create a positive working environment that is enjoyable and highly productive. Ensure the accounting staff strive for high-performance that is service and results oriented, committed to the timely delivery of accurate information.
4. Keep the Controller informed as to the status of all issues and related successes/problems
5. General responsibility for supervising the accounting procedures of the company.
6. Direct and assume responsibility for proper execution of the company's accounting practices, maintenance of accurate financial records, and the timely preparation of financial reports. Utilize standard reporting, as well as insightful comprehensive metrics, to drive continuous improvement for the company.
7. Along with the staff accountants, complete the month end financial statement closing procedures. This includes overseeing timely revenue postings, reviewing A/P and A/R entries, and producing all G/L journal entries necessary to produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
8. On a monthly basis, reconcile all balance sheet accounts and resolve differences as necessary.
9. Ensure staff accountants are thoroughly trained in properly recording their specific areas of responsibility in the company's chart of accounts.
10. Lead the assessment and implementation of financial controls and new financial policies and procedures as needed.
11. Along with the Controller, ensure the year-end, external audit process is completed in an efficient and timely fashion.
12. Work closely with the Controller and operations team to prepare the operating budgets, capital budgets, and business plans and ensure timely completion.
13. Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance. Assist in the development and analysis of the company's financial Key Performance Indicators.
14. Assist the Controller with cash flow forecasting by providing accurate, daily information regarding cash with a potential to take-over the cash flow forecasting process.
15. Interface actively with all departments of the company to identify areas that will result in revenue enhancement, cost reduction, process improvement and/or profit improvement and benefit to the company overall, conducting related analyses as necessary.
16. Ensure compliance with applicable taxing laws, and file required local and state tax returns in a timely manner.
17. Review bi-weekly payroll reports for consistency and accuracy
18. Attend meetings as requested by the Controller.
19. Ensure the expected timing of expenditures is aligned with cash flow availability, reviewing the appropriate Cap-Ex schedules and assisting with the compilation of same if required.
20. Be willing to perform the tasks of the staff accountant in the case of absence or turnover.
21. Works with confidential data, which if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
22. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
2. CPA Preferred
3. 5-7 years of experience; public accounting, healthcare or transportation industries helpful
4. Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management
5. Prior experience with intercompany transactions a plus
