Part-Time Medical Sonographer I - Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (Finance)



We're hiring two per-need hourly part-time Medical Sonographers to support our imaging needs, including both clinical (human) and pre-clinical (animal) research imaging. The roles are flexible, per need, hourly positions focused on high-quality ultrasound image acquisition and protocol support.

This role will support UTHealth Houston's Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging's Director of the UTHealth Houston Center for Advanced Ultrasound Imaging, Translational Research, and Innovations.

Position Summary:

Operates ultrasound equipment and performs a variety of technical procedures to produce images for patient diagnosis.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Assists in the operation of ultrasound equipment and records results. Adjusts parameters on equipment and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.

2. Assists with research activities.

3. Performs basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions.

4. May participate in the diagnosis process to assess maternal and fetal well-being.

5. Assists with research activities by collecting data and participating in research projects.

6. Demonstrates the use of ultrasound equipment and techniques to assist with the education of students, nurses, residents, patients, and physicians.

7. Attend continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances in ultrasound and antenatal testing.

8. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or become registered within one year of employment.

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

None.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
