Nurse Educator and Quality Assurance (Finance)
Oversee the educational program for all staff in the organization, including leadership
Maintain required OSHA and COMAR competencies for all staff
Ensure that all training meets state requirement
Assess staff routinely for deficiencies in training, and adjusted training schedule to meet organizational needs
Plans, develops, directs, evaluates, and coordinates on-going classroom and clinical instruction pertaining to staff education and development to ensure compliance with state and federally mandated nursing and resident quality care standards in a long term setting
Provides leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of in-service educational programs of the facility
Secures, develops, and maintains records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, and other resources pertinent to in-service educational programs.
Develops, directs, schedules and tracks refresher training, as necessary, for assigned staff and licensed professional personnel
Assists licensed nursing personnel (i.e., RNs, LPNs, and Nurse Aides) in obtaining in-service training to meet continuing education requirements for licensing, in accordance with state law
QA Responsibilities
Interprets and implements quality improvement standards.
Designs and implements quality improvement projects based on QI data collected and analyzed and based on the goals of facility and corporation.
Monitors unusual occurrences, report follow-up procedures, and monthly and year to date comparisons.
Assists the Department Heads in development and implementation of action plans.
Assists the Administrator and Department Heads with records, form revisions, and policies and procedures related to quality improvement.
Serve on the QA, safety, and leadership teams
Monitors compliance with current laws, process improvements, and implementation of clinical best practices.
Evaluates effectiveness of quality assurance program.
Writes QA policies and procedures.
Performs routine QA audits.
Selects specific topics for review, such as problem procedures, prescription usage, falls, pressure ulcers, high risk cases, meal services, environment issues or other factors.
