Coordinator (Wastewater Genomic Surveillance) (R&D)
The Drinking Water and Radiation Laboratory Branch (DWRLB) seeks a Coordinator to begin work immediately to support CDPH's wastewater surveillance (WWS) lab capacity expansion. The Coordinator is responsible for the overall tracking, coordination, and documentation of wastewater samples between stakeholder agencies and the DWRL testing laboratory and participate in routine laboratory operations to oversee sample receipt, accessioning, testing and reporting of test results.
The Coordinator will also oversee implementation of lab infrastructure improvements, such as bar code tracking, and accessioning and data storage platforms to support direct machine-to-machine transfer of experimental data for archiving and reporting. The Coordinator will work closely with, and under the direction of the DWRL Microbiology Unit Supervisor to implement lab operational improvements to support the overall wastewater surveillance expansion, which includes working in collaboration with program staff, courier services, wastewater utilities, partner branches within CDPH and local health jurisdictions, as well as the Center's for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
