Purpose:
~ Responsible for day-to-day operations of the North American Safety Office including, but not limited to;
~ Consistently improving safety policies and procedures based regulatory guidelines and emerging best practices and innovations from competitors or other industries.
~ Ensure successful management of key projects while working collaboratively with peers and leaders in other business functions.
~ Assess and maintain existing safety policies and procedures and recommend changes to leadership to ensure procedures are compliant, efficient and minimize risk.
Major Responsibilities:
~ Work in collaboration with safety leadership to improve, implement and maintain appropriate procedures and processes for the North America Safety Office (NASO).
~ Develop the necessary infrastructure, and leverage existing internal tools and systems, to manage key projects.
~ Work closely with internal business functions across the NA Region organization (USA, Canada, and Mexico) to facilitate cross-functional projects in support of the Region's overall NASO strategy and governance.
~ Actively engages with internal and external customers during complex/difficult situations working collaboratively to resolve or identify appropriate actions.
~ Responsible for identifying and implementing non-conformances and corrective actions as required.
~Provide support for other ad-hoc projects, audits and investigations as needed and manage the day-to-day actions that enable accomplishment of the above.
Authority:
~ Position requires attaining and maintaining a moderate level of technical knowledge about Hyundai vehicles to assist in identifying potential vehicle safety conditions.
Education:
~ Must have a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
~ Master's degree a plus but not required.
Related Experience:
~ At least seven years relevant work experience.
~ Experience supporting executive leadership in managing projects, maintaining data and reporting on status updates.
~ One or more years of experience in the automotive business, including, vehicle safety, design, testing, field reliability evaluation, and service is preferred.
Skill/Knowledge:
~ Results-driven with excellent project and program management skills.
~ Ability to proactively collaborate with peers and leadership within the organization and creatively problem solve for mutually successful outcomes.
~ General automotive technical knowledge – body, chassis, powertrain, brakes, electrical, safety systems.
~ Ability to read and comprehend federal regulations related to automotive safety.
~ Ability to accurately analyze high-volume technical data.
~ Ability to influence at all levels of management and formulate a compelling business case.
~ Ability to manage through ambiguity and provide clarity to the team.
~ Stays current with safety industry trends.
~ Aptitude to work well with and communicate clearly with members of various HMA and HMC legal, quality, engineering, testing, and service departments.
Physical requirements:
~ Normal office duties
~ Must be able to travel to support periodic industry action meetings pertaining to safety-defect data analysis best practices.
