How will you contribute to the team?
Atkins is looking for an experienced and talented individual to manage our Colorado transportation planning team and to provide transportation planning related services. We are a growing practice working on a diverse range of high-profile projects throughout Colorado and other states. We're looking for an individual to lead the transportation planning team, mentor staff, and help deliver projects for local, regional, and key national clients.
The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to staff, lead technical studies, manage projects and tasks, and contribute expertise in advanced concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems. The individual will coordinate with other internal groups and subconsultants, coordinate with clients, and facilitate engagement with public and agency stakeholders. The individual also will participate in proposals and business development.
Our teams are currently delivering exciting and nationally important infrastructure projects, including roadways, toll facilities, transit, bike/ped projects, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. You'll further your experience through exceptional formal training opportunities and work on a diverse range of industry-leading projects.
Leadership - Actively drive open communication of current/projected production needs and collaborate with management to influence staffing and expertise levels. Participate in and provide input to the Annual Budgeting and Strategic Planning process in collaboration with Area, Regional, National, and Global leadership.
Staff administration – mentor and supervise staff, identify current and future staffing availability and needs, ensure staff compliance with company policies and procedures.
Project management and production – Ensure appropriate staff allocation to projects. Lead scope development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple transportation disciplines. Manage own project and/or task-level scopes, schedules, and budgets and monitor team's performance.
Technical Excellence – Maintain industry visibility by actively participating in professional organizations and promote technical excellence in your team.
Marketing and client maintenance – Participate as needed in project proposals, marketing, and client contact.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
Ten years or more of experience, including some supervisory experience.
Excellent technical and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage individuals and teams, provide leadership, and manage project production.
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to represent the firm effectively to clients, key public officials, and the community in general.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in travel demand modeling with tools such as Transcad and VISUM and/ or traffic operations modeling using tools such as VISSIM, Synchro, and HCS.
Professional registration in field of practice is preferred, e.g., P.E., A.I.C.P.
