Counter Salesperson / Accounts Payable Coordinator (Finance)




We are in need of a counter salesperson who can also manage our accounts payables (bookkeeping) - that could be you!

If so, then Gorman Company, a division of Hajoca Corporation, would like you to join the dedicated team at our Clearwater, FL location as a Counter Salesperson and A/P Administrator. Our team has been servicing the community for over 30 years offering the very best in plumbing and swimming pool wholesale distribution. We are a close-knit group that works together to provide the best service to both new and existing customers.

Counter Salespeople provide sales and support to walk-in customers at the sales counter and support Inside Sales and Outside Sales activities as needed. As an A/P Administrator, you must be friendly, courteous and service-oriented, as well as detail oriented with an accounting background.

As a combination of these roles, your specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting customers who purchase and/or pick up merchandise at our location
  • Process Sales Orders generated at the counter
  • Provide customers with reliable information regarding product specifications and pricing
  • Assisting team members in servicing customers, answering phone calls, stocking merchandise and pulling orders for delivery
  • Process cash sale returns and refund paperwork
  • Maintaining cleanliness of counter area and ensuring merchandise displays remain stocked, current, and neat
  • Perform accurate and timely invoicing of all customer shipments daily. Inform Inventory Controller of all inventory on hand discrepancies noted on ship tickets
  • Identify and resolve all vendor invoice/purchase order discrepancies prior to the final invoice processing
  • Reconcile daily cash sale transaction payments, prepare the bank deposit, process checks for deposit, and prepare and submit required deposit paperwork
  • Create and maintain customer files
  • Assist team members in servicing customers including answering incoming calls, faxing, filing and photocopying.

    • High school degree or equivalent
    • 1 years in a customer service, accounts receivable, or accounts payable role
    • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
    • Ability to identify customer needs, provide profitable solutions, and close the sale
    • The ability to maintain positive relationships with team members, vendors, and customers
    • Ability to prioritize work projects and multi-task
    • Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

    Our ideal candidate will also:

    • Have, or quickly develop, a comprehensive knowledge of the plumbing, irrigation, or wastewater management industry
    • Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and terms
    • Wholesale distribution experience
    • Basic computer literacy (use of mouse and keyboard, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Office)
    • Possess the drive to assist team members with other tasks as required
