Senior Solutions Engineer(Semi-conductor/RF)- San Diego, CA (Architecture)



POSITION OVERVIEW

The Role 
 

The Integration Engineering Services Team in the Americas Global Services organization is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Solutions Engineer – RF / Semiconductor. to work with highly cross-functional teams on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products. The ideal career for engineers who enjoy working with customers in a highly technical role.

 

The Senior Solutions Engineer position is a high visibility role within National Instruments (N)I. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work directly with NI customers, sales personnel, project leaders, engineering teams, alliance partners, contract manufacturers, and executive management to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI systems and products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large scale turnkey engineering solutions worldwide. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system-level design. 

 
Job Responsibilities
  • Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining of custom solutions
  • Generating requirements documents, statements of work and Bills of Materials from customers specification, and design of their hardware and software architectures 
  • Managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
  • Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions
  • Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution
  • Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
  • Coaching and developing peers in application knowledge and best practices 
  • Automating microwave measurements for product characterization
  • Applies common semiconductor requirements and best practices related to device validation and production
Qualifications
 
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and RF principles
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architectures
  • Demonstrated understanding of high-level programming languages (i.e. LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#)
  • Willing to travel up to 25% domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools
  • Hands-on use of NI Hardware Platforms and Instruments
  • Hands-on use of NI LabVIEW and Test Stand
  • Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:
    • Sources of measurement error
    • Appropriate selection of instrumentation and equipment
    • Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams
    • Integration of hardware and software
    • Familiarity with CAD and PCB design tools
    • Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)
    • RF System design and debug experience in a large-scale production or lab environment
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment
    • Problem-solve effectively, diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions
    • Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently
    • Persistently drive tasks and lead projects to successful completion
    • Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
