Job Description
The Linen Utilization Specialist is responsible for the process of distributing and collecting linen throughout the hospital organization as well as the overall management of linen.
Job Specifications
• Participates in the forecast of expenses, as well as the planning and execution of budgets.
• Handles issues such as training, regulatory compliance, and staffing when needed, in cooperation with the onsite EVS Director.
• Participates in reporting, feedback, and customer relations for the operation.
• Helps produce weekly reporting for operations, key indicators, payroll, and human resource functions.
• Ensures-along with LUM (Linen Utilization Management) Vice President and/or EVS Director/Regional LUM/LUM-oversight of regulatory compliance for all required agencies. Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and TJC requirements. Serves as liaison for all Joint Commission, linen review, and operating committees within the faculty and hospital group.
• Facilitates succession planning for his/her position.
• Attends and documents laundry facility surveys per HLAC guidelines.
• Assists in the organization and participates in nursing education pertaining to linen consumption.
o Assists in general administrative activities, and participates in linen utilization education, as appropriate.
• Monitors and consults on HHS linen distribution policies and procedures.
o Monitors and occasionally participates in linen distribution.
o Develops knowledge of HHS policies and procedures, and consults with team members regarding these procedures when necessary.
• Assists, when called upon, in the delivery of linen to appropriate distribution points inside the hospital.
• Monitors and consults on HHS Safety programs and trainings.
o Develops knowledge of HHS safety standards, and consults on potential safety concerns.
• Monitors and assists in the execution of linen savings initiatives in order to meet or exceed PPD/PAPD goal standards.
