Athletic Trainer, PT/CC (Orthopedics) Lakeland (Finance)



Nemours is seeking an On-Field/Event Athletic Trainer (Full-Time), to join our Nemours team.

The ATC will have direct patient contact primarily for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the NATABOC and the State of Florida Training Affiliated Credentialing Board. They will be asked to assist in performing the physical exam, basic splinting, and strapping as needed.

The ATC will provide treatment to those individuals who have musculoskeletal injuries occurring during participation or training for scholastic, professional or sanctioned amateur athletics. Within this program the ATC will administer and perform appropriate techniques and methods in the prevention on injuries and demonstrate knowledge and use of protective bracing/splinting, safety equipment, education of students, coaches, and parents. The associate in the position will demonstrate clinical competency in direct patient care and complete the ATC clinical competencies. This associate will also assume primary responsibility to prepare and maintain patient care areas within the safety and infection control guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all pediatric and adolescent sports medicine patients.
  • Provides on the field/ sideline coverage pediatric sporting events
  • Maintains patient confidentiality related to conversation, medical records, treatment plans, etc.
  • Follows basic medical precautions for each patient (for eating, drinking, mobility) and refers appropriately to health care team/nursing unit.
  • Collaborate and communicate with surgeons, non-operative physicians, advanced practice providers, and other clinicians regarding medical plans or need for escalation of pt care.
  • Be able to discuss treatment plans, education, and patient status to team members and families. Act as liaison with school/organization ATC staff or coaches following discharge.
  • Development, organization, and implementation of home exercise programs with regard to the patients' needs.
  • Provides orientation, supervision, and guidance to volunteers and students serving in assigned program area.
  • May be asked to perform splint, strapping, and DME application/removal.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Indirect Patient Care Responsibilities
  • Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness, and marketability.
  • May participate in single discipline, multi-disciplinary, and specialty teams.
  • Completes mandatory in-service training yearly, which may include, but is not limited to, safety, infection control, HIPAA, Bioterrorism, corporate compliance training, CPR, and program specific respiratory training.
  • Must have the ability to work well with others.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Good communication skills are required.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience required.
  • Must have BOC ATC Certification and be eligible for Florida ATC Licensure.
  • Must have American Heart Association BLS/AED Certification.

Schedule

Associate will be on-site at Lakeland High School, Monday - Friday 11:00AM - 7:00PM during the school calendar year.

Will be in the LKL Orthopedic clinic during summer providing direct patient care and clinical support.

May also have extended hours based upon sports program needs including some weekends.
