Hewlett Packard Labs -- Research Scientist (Project Management)
The Large Scale Integrated Photonics Lab (LSIP) at Hewlett Packard Labs is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time research position. The main research topic is Silicon and III-V compound semiconductor photonics, with the long-term goal of achieving a low-power consumption, high-speed photonic interconnect system for HPE data center business. The selected candidate will participate in design, fabrication, and characterization of Si-based photonic integrated component and circuits.
We are looking for candidates who have completed a PhD program in Physics, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering within 3 years, and have demonstrated the potential for high-caliber research. The ideal candidate will have theoretical and experimental knowledge of photonics, Si and III-V compound semiconductor materials, as well as the ability to characterize these optoelectronic devices in the laboratory; the ability to design and layout microphotonic and nanophotonic devices on chip-scale platforms; and decent cleanroom experience, including the ability to use state-of-the-art lithography, etching and thin film deposition tools and process Silicon and III-V devices. Applicants should be comfortable working in a strongly collaborative and multidisciplinary industrial basic research environment.
Experience in mode locked lasers, GaAs-based quantum dot materials, high-speed photonic device characterization.
