Animal Research Operations Supervisor (Finance)
This Research Operations Supervisor will provide daily supervision and general oversight of surgery and/or animal care teams, facilitating problem resolution and sustaining communication within PRL. Proactively implement improved processes and practices, and lead execution of department goals and objectives with general direction from management to support Medtronic initiatives and meet customer needs. Train, develop and motivate workforce toward continuous quality improvement, positive and safe working environment, and cost-effective operations
A Day in the Life:
Lead, coach and motivate direct reports to ensure effective delivery of departmental goals and customer requirements.
Effectively communicate with team; leading daily, weekly and monthly meetings to manage progress, gather feedback, and share information.
Clear communication to management, study directors/coordinators, and/or veterinarians of department issues.
Ensure customer requirements of quality, service and cost are achieved and identify opportunities to improve on how we support our customers.
Monitor quality and safety, react to incidents, and coordinate corrective actions as necessary.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining safe standards as required by law and company policy.
Oversee team compliance to GLP, FDA, USDA, AAALAC, IACUC, and all other applicable
regulations/guidelines.
Ensure employee adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, department guidelines, safety policies, study protocols, and proper documentation.
Lead by example, demonstrate Medtronic Leadership Expectations in all daily interactions with customers and colleagues.
Continuously manage performance of direct reports through performance acceleration process, providing on-going coaching, counselling, discipline, and employee development.
Perform annual performance reviews, pay adjustments and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct report employees.
Actively supervise shift and/or areas, promoting a positive environment that ensures teamwork.
Encourage and facilitate a beneficial resolution of issues across the department, effectively mediate conflict to promote a friendly climate, good morale, and team cohesiveness.
Ensure consistency of operating practices across shifts and areas.
Leadership of continuous improvement projects using lean and six sigma tools to improve overall business efficiency.
Foster a culture of innovation through identifying innovative solutions to process problems and actively encouraging team members to share ideas and fresh approaches.
Ensure that direct reports, technicians, and assistants are adequately trained and certified to perform their jobs in a safe, efficient manner which promotes high-quality outcomes.
Identifies and develops training programs to support emerging research needs and sustained competency.
Develop, implement, and maintain visual management for operations measurements and general business communication.
Monitor productivity and ensure that staffing is appropriate to support business needs.
Assist Research Operations Manager for fiscal year budget.
Support human cadaver procedures.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Delivery of cost reduction results and quality improvement efforts in accordance with site goals.
Compliance to safety and housekeeping standards/expectations to prevent employee and animal injuries and/or health hazards.
The team performs work in alignment with quality systems requirements.

Equipment and facility is maintained.
