Warehouse Efficiency Manager (Project Management)



Position Purpose:

The Manager of Warehouse Efficiency helps to improve operations by reducing costs and increase productivity by data analysis and best practices. They are responsible for gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources, interpreting results, and providing hands-on leadership structure to implement and execute based on results. They will create and maintain highly complex flexible models to perform various scenario analyses. They will lead various programs that are utilized by Operations to reduce cost and track expense, implementing optimal changes in methods, procedures, physical layout, and systems. The incumbent will work with the DCs across the network to find and implement best practices. They will serve as a consultant for DC leadership teams for training, productivity or other initiatives within the DCs. They are responsible for the development of training materials and conducting training sessions. They are responsible for timely and accurate preparation of management reports (historical results, forecasts and budget).

 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Actively identify and support the development of high impact value-add analysis on business drivers, trends, and risk/opportunities within the slotting layout of a warehouse.
  • Apply National slotting logic within operations while utilizing best practices for layout and efficiency.  
  • Provide leadership, participate in operational projects aimed at improving Operational KPI's.
  • Responsible for KPI, Cost Benefit, and Capacity Reporting to support Senior Management Team.
  • Develop and streamline reports to improve accuracy and performance.
  • Update and maintain highly complex ad hoc models, measurement tools and various warehouse slotting software(s).
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within Supply Chain, Distribution, Transportation, or other functional areas.
  • Support operational planning processes within change management.
  • Directs and manages project development from beginning to end.
  • Determines and assesses need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
  • Develops training materials and provides training sessions.
  • Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Defines project success criteria and disseminates them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Builds, develops, and grows all business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Performs other job duties as required.
 
Position Requirements:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant warehouse operations work experience preferred
  • Industrial Engineering background preferred: to include developing facility sizing layouts and rack configurations
  • AutoCAD System Experience preferred
  • Multi-functional work experience preferred
  • Multi-Project leadership experience preferred
  • System Implementation Preferred

Knowledge:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Prefer knowledge of pivot tables, data manipulation, and reporting
  • Proficient with project scheduling and flowcharting software. Knowledge of MS Project and Visio preferred
  • Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, such as processes for requirements definition, business/systems analysis, and business test planning

  • Travel requirement of +/-75%
Work Environment:
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
