Release Train Engineer Senior Advisor - Evernorth (Information Technology)



Cigna, a leading Health Services company, is looking for exceptional Release Train Engineer with a passion for transforming stakeholder experience with innovative solutions, to join the Office for Intelligent Automation.

The release train engineer is a critical role in transforming our provider experience by improving the flow of value through the release train and enable successful delivery of the features. This role is responsible for defining the program objectives, partnering with the product teams and managing risks and dependencies across multiple product teams. This leadership role drives continuous improvement across the Release Train, addresses critical bottlenecks and helps improve lean thinking. This role further works with technology teams delivering solutions using cutting edge technologies, product management and drive innovation and transformation to improve experience and create a positive impact to the stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • As an RTE, manage the delivery of dedicated product teams, and coordinate work into and from other product teams
  • Develop and maintain an overall road-map / plan on how the train (dedicate + virtual teams) will deliver improvements
  • Participates in PI Planning readiness; preparation of Program Vision and backlogs via pre- and post-PI Planning
  • Assists with execution and Feature completion and drives continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt (I&A)
  • Assists with economic decision making, escalates and tracks impediments and helps manage risks and dependencies
  • Facilitates the Agile Release Train (ART) Sync meeting
  • Assists Product Management with economic decision making and by facilitating Feature estimation by teams and then aggregate up to the Epic level
  • Encourages collaboration between System and Solution Architects, User Experience, Engineers and Teams
  • Reports status and supports activities related to Program Portfolio Management and Release Management
  • Addresses critical bottlenecks and ensures the necessary tools are set up for the ART (including software, collaboration tools, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Encourages and facilitates Team Layer and Program Layer continuous integration and communities of practice for Quality, Engineering, SAFe, Agile and Lean
  • Ensures the ART has established working agreements with relevant Operations team(s) on how software will be tested, deployed and operated, including who is accountable
  • Maintains accurate ART/Program rosters and ensuring team member data such as primary role, ART/Program affiliation and ART/Program allocations are accurate and up to date

This position is with Evernorth, a new business within the Cigna Corporation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

A highly motivated, collaborative individual with technology experience, exceptional communication skills and proven experience working with diverse teams of technical architects, business users and IT teams on all phases of the software development life-cycle. Qualifications include:

  • Ability to Adapt and work across teams - This is role will be a coordinator across several, independent teams, and the candidate will need to be able to tailor the position to meet these needs
  • 5+ years of experience in multiple phases of software development including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation, and support of large-scale, business centric and process based applications
  • Ability to research, analyze, make recommendations, and evaluate technical requirements, functions, and processes, to improve software development and facilitate the development of software solutions.
  • Improve the flow of value through Value Streams, Solution Trains, Agile Release Trains, and Iterations using the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps.
  • Drive relentless improvement; assess the agility level of the Solution Train, Agile Release Train, and Agile Teams help improve lean and agile thinking.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to speak with technical and business leads
  • This role requires the passion to want to make a better experience for our Providers and customers and the ability to keep looking to the future
  • Ability to navigate across the landscape and coordinate with these teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong project management / coordination skills
  • The ability to effectively work in Rally

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $113,000 - $188,400, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
