Project Documentation Engineer (Architecture)

What you'll be challenged to do:

The Project Documentation Engineer will perform material and administrative documentation oversight including website database support and coordination duties for a large-scale Quality Assurance Program that oversees material inspection and testing for a local agency road and bridge construction program. The candidate should be highly motivated and is expected to have good communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as good organizational skills and a willingness to take on new challenges. The candidate should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Manage material documentation system and procedures for a large-scale QA Program
  • Provide basic technical support and assistance to users of a web-based construction and materials management system including but not limited to new user accounts, access issues, password recovery, and general database inquiries
  • Perform audits of project documentation and information in the website/database system to identify deficiencies and verify corrective actions are completed. Prepare reports as needed
  • Attend project meetings including assisting with agenda preparation and meeting minutes
  • Assist with and participate in training
  • The position requires effective and efficient coordination abilities
  • Periodic visits to project sites to inspect and document field work may be required

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4+ year of construction/materials experience
  • Familiar with IDOT's Manual of Test Procedures for Materials and the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word

What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related discipline or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • 5+ years of experience in construction including 3+ years experience as office/documentation engineer
  • Experience working within a technical office or construction environment preferably in HMA, PCC, and aggregate material testing and inspection categories as related to roadway construction
  • Certification in IDOT Documentation
  • Experience includes work on projects for IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA, and/or federally funded projects for municipalities or other local agencies
  • Local candidates
  • Strong Word, Excel, and Database skills
