Who We Are:
Support for Early Learning and Families (SELF) collaborates with the Educational Service District (ESD) 112 in Vancouver, WA to provide staffing and talent management for over 30 Child Care Centers primarily in Southwest WA. Our staff serve infants through school age children and their families. We employ over 100 employees and are dedicated to ensuring every child in our community thrives. General Description of Position:
This Operations Center Director supports the growth and development of Center Directors in the birth-5 and/or school age programs. They will ensure operational success at individual Centers, including meeting both planned and emergent staffing needs. They will have knowledge in Early Care and Education and strong leadership skills that focus on strength-based coaching and mentoring. This individual will partner with multiple TAs and Managers to receive feedback and help guide and director Center Directors toward growth. This position is heavily focused on leadership development and staffing coordination.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education preferred. Must have 47 credit hours in early childhood education, elementary education, family and consumer sciences, special education, or a related field.
20 hours of STARs training or an exemption from the Department of Children Youth and Families.
21 years of age or older is a minimum licensing requirement.
Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or have an approved medical/religious exception on file.
Successful completion of a portable background check and clearance through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families, post-hire, paid for by SELF.
Valid CPR, first aid, HIV/BBP training and current food handlers' card upon hire, conducted at the employees expense.
Show negative TB test from within last 12 months and provide an Initial Health Exam.
Must provide records indicating you have immunity to MMR.
Essential Functions
Supervise and lead a group of Center Directors toward excellence. Ensure they are meeting job expectations.
Provide professional guidance on challenging situations that arise with staff. This includes coaching, providing feedback, and modeling strong leadership behavior.
Uphold a high level of confidentiality and professional relationships with those who report to you.
Support the onboarding and training of new Center Directors in partnership with ESD program staff.
Support the Center Directors in coordinating the day-to-day staffing coverage and making plans for emergent needs.
Serve in ratio for Director, teacher, or assistant as needed for compliance with child care licensing.
Approve Director time off requests in partnership with other OCDs.
Serve as point person for any sudden staffing changes (be on call from 5a-8p).
Supervise, schedule, and communicate with the substitute application pool.
Create and maintain staffing models for traditional and modified schedules (ie: Spring Break, Holidays, Summer).
Utilize technological solutions that help track and streamline staff schedules, time off, and daily staff assignments.
Travel throughout SW Washington as needed to support Center Directors.
Ability to work early mornings and occasional evenings as needed.

Other Functions
Coordinate the recruitment, screening, interviewing and onboarding of new employees, including performing orientations for new staff.
Creatively engage the community via in-person and virtual methods to attract new talent to SELF.
Utilize the Applicant Tracking System to ensure applicants are screened and contacted within a timely manner.
Onboard new employees into our HRIS system in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring all pre-employment documents are completed.
Adhere to state and federal employment laws, policies, and regulations. Demonstrate fairness and equity when interviewing candidates.
Produce stay surveys to capture data on retention.
Demonstrate patience, empathy, and have a solution-based approach to conversations. Visiting staff at child care centers to focus on retention will be required.
Lead staff Wellness Committee; solicit members, encourage engagement, brainstorm new methods of appreciation.
Physical and Strength Demands
Requires the ability to move or traverse about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, center activities, etc.
Moderate or frequent exposure to loud noises, outside weather elements, and temperature changes.
Lifting requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects including the human body.
Job involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and/or pulling. Position involves physical mobility with or without reasonable accommodation to perform essential functions of the job.
Work space will be split between SELF Administrative offices, Centers, and working from home.
