The Senior (Lead) Quantitative Analyst position provides technical and power market analysis support to Trade Surveillance and Risk Management. This will involve creating consistent transmission system and market representations for areas of the Eastern Interconnection and performing required market and transmission analyses. This position interacts closely with all departments within Risk Management and various departments across PJM's Markets and Operations divisions.
Because of COVID-19 this position will be temporarily working from home until a return to campus plan is finalized. It is anticipated that most, if not all employees, will return to campus by early 2021. Upon returning to campus, this position is expected to operate on-site.
Essential Functions:
Develop and maintain accurate electric system models for PJM.
Develop electric power system models.
Develop power system nodal market models.
Perform power system market simulations in support of modeling efforts.
Develop a solid understanding of the business functions and processes and implement solutions based on that understanding.
Compile, prepare and analyze various statistical/analytical data, reports statements, studies or projects.
Quantitative analytical support for analyzing market participant portfolios.
Perform technical and mathematical analysis of PJM's market functions.
Interact regularly with leadership and cross functional teams to understand strategic changes.
Perform data mining functions.
Technical Skills: Production Cost Simulation software skills, statistical software skills.
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or at least 10 years of experience
At least 8 years of experience industry experience in power system modeling
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Preferred:
MS degree in Engineering
PhD., Economics, Mathematics or Engineering
At least 10 years of experience with PJM markets including FTRs, ARRs, Virtual Bids and RPM
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
