The University of Pittsburgh Drug Discovery Institute (UPDDI) has developed the MPS-Db as an internet resource to support the development and application of microphysiology systems (MPS) in drug discovery and development, as well as personalized medicine. The UPDDI now has funding to commercialize the database and market to pharmaceutical and biotech companies that are adopting MPS models through the formation of a new company. We are looking to hire a talented and dedicated individual who can lead the development of the commercialized product and who can transition to the new company in the next 12 months. manage the development and commercialization of the Microphysiology Database (MPS-Db). The software development manager will be responsible for the design and development of a commercial version of the MPS-Db for delivery and installation behind corporate firewalls. The candidate will plan and manage all aspects of this process, from identifying systems requirements from Pharma/Biotech partners/customers, to designing and building the package, and finally working with the customers to ensure successful installation and implementation of the software on-site. The candidate will work closely with the business manager, commercial end users and their IT teams to identify and address customer needs. The candidate will report to the PIs and the business manager.
MS degree in computer science, software engineering or related experience or degree.
At least 5 years experience in commercial software development in analytics and/or databases
At least 5 years experience in web development and familiarity with the Django framework.
