Bridge Inspector (Finance)
Your Opportunity:
The Seattle office of Michael Baker International is growing and has an open position for an experience Bridge Design and Inspection Engineer. Our Denver Transportation Group consists of about 41 multi-disciplined staff that are involved in the planning, design and construction management of roads and bridges for CDOT, RTD, CCD, Caltrans, MDT, TxDOT, UDOT and other transportation authorities throughout Colorado and the US West. With a unique multidisciplinary team approach, we're equipped with state-of-the-art bridge inspection tools, structural simulation models, specialized design software, and computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) facilities.
Your Duties:
•Primary responsibilities include working in a team environment, responsible for high quality structural designs, preparation of contract documents, bridge inspection, business development activities and will contribute to client management. This position will provide you with project level leadership responsibility on traditional bridge design/inspections projects, and task level responsibility on larger transportation projects including design-build and CM/GC alternative delivery projects. These will include:
•Provide analysis and design for new highway, rail & transit bridge structures.
•Prepare construction drawings, project special provisions and structure selection reports.
•Design transportation related structures including retaining walls, underground vaults and culverts.
•Perform analysis and load rating of structures using multiple software packages including CSI Bridge, SAP2000, ConSpan, ConSplice, MDX, BDS, LPile and VIRTIS.
•Support the advancement of project design teams with mentoring and direction of younger engineers, technicians and construction inspectors.
•Plan and perform NBIS bridge inspection and/or BTIS tunnel inspection
•Support business development with preliminary design concepts, site assessments and limited proposal writing.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
•Bachelor's degree (BS) in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university
•Have a minimum of 8 years of bridge design and inspection experience
•Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Colorado, California or Washington
•Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design code, or AREMA LFD code.
•Experience with CSI Bridge or SAP 2000 (or equivalent structural analysis software), and Finite Element Modeling
•Team Leader Inspector with current NHI certification in bridge and/or tunnel inspection
•Proficient in MicroStation
•Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail and accuracy.
•Self-motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills
