Architecture Senior Advisor (Information Technology)



The Architecture Senior Advisor will be knowledgeable of the end to end business processes and integrated solutions within Cigna.  They will be responsible for triaging level 3 issues; determining proper ownership, along with identifying root cause with facilitating a recommended solution. The architect will participate in project delivery phases (functional requirements, design and business workflow testing) to 1) Influence Production; 2) Provide Non-functional requirements; 3) gain knowledge; and 4) ensure project holds together end to end from an operational perspective.  In addition, this architect can articulate issues, analytical results, business impact and solution limitations in terms of business impact and work effort back to appropriate stakeholders so they may react/plan accordingly.  This is a hands-on position with visibility to the highest levels of Cigna management who are driven to see our efforts succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex/highly-escalated issues through business and IT organizations by creating active discussion on impacts, priorities, and ensuring swift decisions are made on next steps.  May partner with multiple TSG's.
  • Accountable for facilitation and communication of issues defined as high/critical business impact across IT and business, to resolution.
  • Effectively communicate complex/technical information in user-friendly and audience appropriate terminology, in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure Completeness of technical Triage.  Provide synopsis of research completed, steps taken and issue replication performed prior to sending the request to other service partners with emphasis on root cause analysis
  • Use effective relationships with ASG SMEs to assist in complex issues.
  • Ensure the issues are worked end to end to completion, eliminating future rework.
  • Support Post Implementation and warranty phase crisis management.
  • Participate in project delivery phases (functional requirements, design and business workflow testing, etc.) to 1)  provide Production influence; 2) Non-functional requirements; 3) gain knowledge; and 4) ensure project holds together end to end from an operational perspective
  • Support pre- and post- release activities, integrated releases, as required.   Up to and including, providing SME assistance for IT and business matrix partners during solution delivery, implementation and post release time periods
  • Provide design solution and architecture direction for issues impacting customers and clients.
  • Recommend solutions to bring efficiency in operational support
  • Accountable for achieving and maintaining appropriate skill sets to support Portfolio, Production, and Strategy
  • Knowledgeable of strategic solution delivery. 
  • Functional SME resource for business and Production Support staff; knowledgeable of the end to end business processes.
  • Support business problem solving sessions and assist Business Operation in addressing their solution capability needs
  • Understands business operations priorities, and communicates effectively across business and IT areas, to drive action in meeting solution needs
  • Determination of root cause, including recommended solution. Mitigate business impact by identifying root causes (proactively and reactively); ensure/determine sustainable manual or automated workarounds
  • Engage with Delivery Systems Analysts and other SMEs to understand new functionality for non-project delivery
  • Mentors and coaches staff by identifying individual strengths and areas for development and implementing plans to ensure their continual growth.
  • Challenges the status quo and recommends alternative solutions
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in knowing Cigna's business and approaches integration solutions across the enterprise.
  • Consults with business units on approaches to address business needs and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in IT delivery
  • Expert level Python, AWS, Openshift skills required
  • Breadth across system capabilities and business solutions
  • Strong Organizational Agility
  • Proven ability to manage and contribute to complex business facing issues
  • Ability to communicate in terms of business capability and business impact.
  • Commitment to improvement of customer experience and service quality
  • Experience working with databases like DB2, Oracle, MongoDB (desirable)
  • Understanding of Agile development methodology and concepts
  • Experience on integration technologies like Pega BPM, IBM BPM, IIB, MQ, Web Services and Java
  • SQL/script writing and Oracle data maneuvering and management
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
  • Ability to mobilize and motivate teams towards a common vision and common set of objectives
  • Ability to navigate a variety of reporting relationships, matrix structures and deal with politics
  • Ability to resolve conflict (striving for win-win outcomes)
  • Ability to deliver tough messages with grace
  • Ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity
