Department Overview
National Programming's Studio Six Department is a quick turnaround production unit, which develops, produces, and presents a number of ongoing series and special programs for outlets including PBS, APT, National Geographic, pbs.org, wgbh.org, and others. Among recent productions are: American Veteran, Rare: Creatures of the Photo Ark, Lidia Celebrates America, Lidia's Kitchen, Simply Ming, Moveable Feast with Relish, Weekends with Yankee, Jamie Oliver Together, and many others.
Job Overview
Working with the Associate Producer, the Production Assistant will work on all aspects of post-production Shutdown of Studio Six programs in addition to other duties as assigned. They must be exceptional communicators (written and verbal), have proficient computer skills, and use sound independent judgment to keep projects on track. It will be essential that the candidate take initiative to pursue the necessary information to complete shutdown tasks with the Production Staff. Duties will include database entry of program material, creating music and visual cue sheets, and some duties assigned by the Post-production Supervisor. In addition, they must be able to work independently and proactively on multiple, concurrent deadlines with limited direction.
Responsibilities
A typical day in this position includes communication with the Associate Producer to determine the necessary steps needed to shutdown a Studio Six program and create an action plan. Common responsibilities include database entries of program documents, assessing visual cue sheets, and reviewing third-party licenses. Creating final Music Cue sheets in an online database system. Additional responsibilities may include database entry of original footage information for archival purposes.
