Reading Truck Body in Claremore is now hiring 2nd shift welders. We are a leading manufacturer, distributor and fleet sales expert of premium truck bodies with commercial upfit for vocational markets nationwide. **2nd shift welders: Train on 1st shift for 2-5 weeks before moving to second.

  • 2nd Shift hours: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM Monday thru Thursday

Pay determined based on experience and weld test.

SUMMARY

Provides welding support as part of a team working on either Standard and/or Special assembled service bodies as well as small parts. This position will take fabricated steel parts and weld them into assembled units as specified on blueprints or work instructions and within specific quality standards.

In this position, a Welder (Thin/ Galvanized Steel) must be able to perform the following:

  • Adhere to all Safety procedures, processes, and PPE usage.

  • Experience with MIG, Flux, and Fitting

  • Weld together structural metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.

  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

  • Complete inline quality inspection of work and Maintain weld quality in accordance to established quality guidelines

  • Complete welding station tasks in accordance to established tak time (if applicable).

  • Cross train on multiple welding workstations and perform required tasks in multiple stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.

  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools including welding equipment.

  • Maintain 5S of work area.

  • Assists team members by performing specific or general duties when needed
    Perform other assignments as required

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Willing to work overtime and varied shift assignments if necessary

  • Prior manufacturing welding experience preferred

    • Ability to pass weld test / read blue prints / tape measure test

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL

    EXPOSURE:

  • All Welders are required to wear a form of respirator. Successful completion of pre-employment respirator testing is required.

  • Ability to work in hot or cold manufacturing floor environments.

  • Welding operations will require bending, standing, stooping, squatting.

  • Ability to hold and use Weld gun in vertical, lateral, and overhead positions.
