Product Manager - Sample Preparation Product Line (Personal Services)
Position Description:

The position is based in Pleasanton, CA or Warrendale, PA. The Specimen Preparation Product Line (SPPL) includes multiple instruments designed for preparation and analysis of premier quality samples for Electron Microscopy. This is a high profile, multifaceted position with P&L responsibility at the gross profit line.
Job Responsibilities:
• Grow, diversify and develop SPPL business to meet and exceed business targets
• Responsibly and diligently manage SPPL P&L
• Lead SPPL market and applications by introducing new concepts, new technologies and new products. Be innovative, driven and resourceful in the translation of the new product concepts into agile and successful business models
• Participate and drive the sales forecasting process
• Meet quarterly and annual revenue and gross margin goals
• Meet and exceed market share goals
• Manage demo inventory in line with net working capital goals
• Meet warranty expense goals
• Develop new products and improvements to existing products to enhance the P&L
• Create Sales and Application collateral and support the Sales Group globally
• Prepare, manage and report SPPL product roadmap and the business plan
• Be active team player and collaborate with Product Manager team and Engineering staff to understand, learn and develop new product concepts synchronized with overall Company business targets
• Champion SPPL at technical conferences and workshops to promote Company brand
• Investigate and when appropriate prepare potential opportunities in adjacent fields using or modifying current sample preparation products
• Seek and investigate potential complimentary techniques and opportunities in adjacent markets that will increase the business results
• Maintain accurate price book pages and ordering instructions for all active products
• Maintain accurate and commercially relevant .ppt presentations for all active products
• Maintain relevant applications data for all active products
• Maintain a relevant and accurate web site
• Generate Market Requirements Specifications
• Participate/drive the PLC process
• Train sales force/distributors/OEMS
• Handle Specials requests
• Provide customer demos in-house or at customer or OEM sites
• Organize product workshops, schools
Position Requirements:
• Ability to translate customer needs into definitions of winning products
• Marketing and finance savvy
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 40%
• Hands-on experience with the preparation of specimens for transmission and scanning electron microscopy
• Prior product management experience
• Prior P&L responsibility
• Materials Science background with focus on Semiconductor Manufacturing / Packaging markets
Qualifications:
• Master's or Ph.D. Degree in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering
• Experienced in using Electron Microscopes
• Experienced in using the analysis techniques that are utilized post preparation to determine best preparation conditions
• Must be able to communicate professionally and clearly to varying audiences globally
• Must be detail-oriented, organized and driven to meet and exceed goals planned for the fiscal year
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering or Natural Resources
• Minimum 10 years professional experience in Electron Microscopy market for Materials Science and Engineering
• Experience in Semiconductor FA market is a strong plus
