Staff Nurse II-Neurology-Mobile Stroke Unit (Casual/PRN) TMC (Finance)
UT Health Medical School, in partnership with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, unveiled the country's first Mobile Stroke Unit. The stroke unit is located at The University of Texas Professional Building in the Texas Medical Center. It responds to calls within a three-mile radius and patients will be transported to comprehensive stroke centers including Memorial Hermann- TMC, Houston Methodist Hospital, and St. Luke's Medical Center. It carries a Paramedic, Neurologist, Nurse, and CT technician.
Position Summary:
Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of nursing care for patients in an assigned area. May be responsible for the administration of the clinic or unit.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Preferred experience:
The candidate should have tremendous presence of mind and quick decision making abilities; a sound knowledge of emergency care procedures and care; ability to work in high acuity situations during transport. The department prefers candidates who have at least 2 years of acute care experience in ICU or ER setting and are very detail oriented, and adaptable. Research experience and bilingual Spanish speaking candidates are a plus.
Certification/Skills:
Current state of Texas Registered Nurse licensure. Uses typical office and clinic equipment.
CPR certified
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with one year nursing experience; OR Associates degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with three years nursing experience; OR Nursing Diploma (3-year program) and two years nursing experience.
Minimum Experience:
Years of experience varies based on education level.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
