GDIT is currently seeking a Compliance Security Center Engineer joining our FDIC infrastructure program in Arlington, VA. As a Compliance Security Center Engineer you will support the maintenance of our customer's Secure Baseline Configuration Guide (SBCG) compliance across all Government Support Systems (GSS).
Level of Clearance Required: U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background to obtain an agency specific Public Trust.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. The FDIC team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. Employees are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
As a team member, the candidate will support the maintenance of the customer's Secure Baseline Configuration Guide (SBCG) compliance across all Government Support Systems (GSS).
Serve as project-specific information engineer and ensure the successful project-level implementation of SBCG processes.
Be technically proficient in a broad scope of technologies such as VMware, Linux, UNIX, and networking equipment (Juniper/Cisco).
Support remediation efforts on non-compliant systems to bring them into compliance.
Communicate clearly and regularly with management and team members.
Follow and maintain processes, plans, and procedures to ensure adherence to the documented plans and procedures.
Conducts routine quality assurance activities such as peer reviews.
Remains abreast of and researches industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.
To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:
Scripting experience: PowerShell, Bash, Batch, or Python
Five years of experience with NIST 800-53
Five years of system engineering or network engineering
Five years of IT Security experience
Ability to quickly learn new technology concepts including both software and hardware.
Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment.
Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, and detail oriented.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to work effectively with team members, business partners, and clients.
Excellent teamwork, multi-task, and interpersonal skills
Performs data analysis to support internal and external project needs.
It would be great if you also had:
Programming experience - Python, C, C++, JavaScript, PHP
Experience with Juniper SRX devices (Routers, Switches and firewalls) and JunOS or experience with Cisco ASA devices and experience with Cisco iOS
Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
Minimum Education: A Master's degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, or business/finance. Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:A Bachelor's degree (in subjects described above) and 12 years of general IT experience of which 9 must be specialized experience.Three years of additional applicable experience may be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
