Supervisor-Sawmill (Grangeville) (Manufacturing)



Idaho Forest Group Grangeville is currently seeking a Swing Shift Sawmill Supervisor to join our team.

This position will efficiently and effectively supervise the sawmill operation.

The Sawmill Supervisor will be responsible for the direct supervision of 15 - 20 employees and will be expected to lead improvements in safety, productivity and quality in the Sawmill department.  The expectation is to lead in a way that supports/enhances our standards and principles, fosters teamwork and produces results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations and JSAs
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations
  • Supervise 15 - 20 employees to maximize safety, quality, and production
  • Proactive leadership that fosters safety and teamwork which enhance IFG culture and standards including knowledge of IFG KPI and QMS
  • Train, coach, and evaluate performance
  • Counsel team members
  • Work closely with Green End Manager, Maintenance Manager and other supervisors to identify repairs, improvement opportunities and innovative solutions
  • Work closely with Sales to track production tallies and Sales needs
  • Conduct uptime analysis for continuous improvement
  • Maintain clean department and plant site
  • Fill in for production operators as needed
  • Help to meet department budget by managing materials and labor
  • Maintain production and time records
  • Help to implement and maintain company policies and procedures
  • Work with maintenance staff to maximize uptime and reliability
  • Help to hire and train a diverse workforce
  • Help to assure safety compliance and continuous improvement in safety culture
  • Other duties as directed by Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of sawmill manufacturing practices
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience developing and implementing key process indicators (KPI's)
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to coach, train and evaluate personnel
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required for production analysis and projections
  • Strong communication skills, planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter that takes initiative and can inspire others to improve
