Computer Specialist / Technician (Information Technology)
Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time, year-round Computer Specialist / Technician to join the busy IT department. This position is a member of our customer support team working to keep the college running efficiently at the desktop level. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated, cohesive team of technicians performing a wide range of technical and non-technical functions to provide computer support services to a dynamic college community. We support students, faculty, staff, administration, and members of the monastic community. The services provided will involve the installation, configuration, preventative maintenance and repair of computer hardware to include multi-level support of computers, monitors, terminals, printers, and other peripherals.
The successful candidate will work across campus in different settings to install, maintain, and resolve problems on authorized software and hardware. Additionally, he/she will instruct, train, and advise customers on hardware and software issues; regularly troubleshoot and diagnose a wide variety of hardware and software challenges, repair hardware to correct issues and arrange for outside assistance as needed, as well as evaluate and recommend hardware upgrades for customers. He/she will perform computer workstation upgrades including installation of hard drives, SSDs, RAM, a myriad of internal components, software installation and customer replacements, and will also be responsible for operating system tuning, configuration, installation, and end point protection.
This position will be a part of a successful team that maintains parts inventory, maintenance and asset management tasks related to hardware/software. Records will be maintained of all work done through our ticket system in accordance with our escalation support model. He/she will document any new computer procedures, support public computer labs, smart classrooms, and media events, support and keep up-to-date on current technologies, and staff the Help Desk as assigned, as well as be involved in our HawkNet student worker program and assist in their training.
