Safety Manager (Finance)
CPR/First Aid Training - be the first responder team leader.
Track the inventory for safety equipment to all facilities.
Communicate with management regarding compliance and safety.
Create weekly, monthly and annual safety reports.
Update/maintain, and train safety and emergency procedures and policies to comply with federal, state and local regulations.
Develop, train and record safety related training including hazard communication and required DOT, OSHA and EPA training.
Audit all health and safety functions including safe work practices and forward results to managers.
Facilitate and record incident investigations, assign action items and follow up and record results.
Evaluate chemical and physical industrial hygiene hazards to develop mitigation plans.
Coordinate and facilitate the medical surveillance program including fit testing for respirators and maintenance of the medical files. Please note that periodic inspections and written evaluations must be done to ensure that the respiratory program is being followed.
Lead and advise the safety awareness team and document the meetings. Notify appropriate managers of employee concerns.
Formulate the safety training including scheduling safety meetings. Maintain records of the safety meetings.
Review new waste streams and officiate appropriate PPE and address all safety concerns with all employees.
Specify and procure safety equipment to adequately manage the H&S policies of the company.
Ensure that inspections on safety equipment are timely made and recorded. This equipment includes fire extinguishers, vent hoods and safety showers. Write work orders for repairs and schedule follow ups as needed. Maintain records of all safety and health activities that require a corrective action.
Supervise the lock out tag out, ladder inspections and other OSHA required programs. Audit these programs and report results to managers.
Schedule RCRA training and maintain the files.
Perform noise / air surveys as required by OSHA and post results.
Perform area and personnel monitoring, record and post the results per OSHA standards.
Test and maintain the security, alarm and fire systems.
Oversee the daily, weekly or monthly inspections of equipment including and maintain the inspection files.
Maintain the MSDS files.
Arrange for new hire training including, lockout tag out, RCRA, and hazard communication procedures.
Participate in customer audits and assist in the preparation of Contractor Qualification Forms.
Technical:
Plant safety process leader - accountable for providing guidance and expertise to all departments to assure a safe and healthy workplace and compliance with all applicable EHS policies via training, auditing, and enforcement.
Site environmental compliance and leader - provide guidance and direction to all departments to assure compliance with all applicable permits and regulations and commitment to conservation and environmental protection.
Manage/coordinate the required audits of areas and systems to verify compliance with all existing EHS policies.
Plans, develops, and initiates policies and programs to ensure the safety and health of employees, contractors, and visitors at the facility and to conform to the requirements of the site EHS Management Systems (e.g. ISO 14001).
Manage the development of the plant EHS training curriculum.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
AA required, BA/BS in Health & Safety or related field strongly preferred.
Advanced knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
Experience:
5 -10 years of experience with health and safety management, including areas of DOT/OSHA / EPA/ Training environment, air, waste, wastewater, RCRA, and other applicable industry and regulatory standards.
Demonstrated success in implementing environmental management systems such as ISO14001
Demonstrated success at project management
Experience with the following will all provide for preferential consideration:

NEESHAP regulations
Title V air permits
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations
Risk Management Planning
Must have demonstrated intermediate knowledge and ability to work with MS Word, Excel, E-mail and internet.
Must be able to travel between Indianapolis and South Bend locations.
