Master Production Planner (Administrative)

Position Summary

The Master Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a master production schedule that ensures optimal production flow, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced nutraceutical manufacturing environment. This role is critical in balancing raw material availability, production capacity, and inventory targets while adhering to strict GMP standards and FDA regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and material availability for a diverse range of nutraceutical products.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure timely delivery of finished goods while meeting quality and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor production performance against the schedule; proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks, delays, or inventory issues.
  • Align production planning with regulatory timelines, lot tracking requirements, and batch release protocols in compliance with cGMP, FDA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with Procurement to ensure timely receipt of raw materials and packaging components, considering lead times and shelf-life constraints.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and production trends to improve scheduling efficiency and reduce waste or overproduction.
  • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and provide visibility to capacity constraints, schedule changes, and priority shifts.
  • Ensure ERP system planning parameters are accurate and up-to-date; maintain master data integrity for items, routings, and BOMs.
  • Support internal audits, product traceability, and documentation efforts as required for regulatory compliance.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning or supply chain management within the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing industry
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and planning/reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with cGMP regulations, FDA requirements, and quality systems in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and cross-functionally with various departments throughout the company.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
