~ Supervise, review and schedule Engineering Garage daily operations.
~ Repair and maintain engineering company fleet vehicles and provide comprehensive technical support for all vehicle quality improvement related activities, including, but not limited to Engineering investigation support, warranty part test and analysis, new model serviceability analysis, IQS/VDS-related exercises, technical bulletin confirmation, Top 25 Labor Time Study (LTS) confirmation and preparation of vehicles for review by various press agencies.
~ Oversee and supervise routine vendor relationships with the Engineering Garage.
~ Responsible for Engineering Garage Support (EGS) business implementation activities including primary input into the overall EGS budget.
~ Maintain EGS including shop equipment and all related items in the EGS facility.
~ Supervise press fleet vendor account responsibilities for all service department and media vehicle related mileage and inspection activities.
~ Order, stock, monitor and maintain vehicle parts inventory for use by EGS technicians.
~ Repair and maintain all engineering company fleet vehicles, including new model prototypes.
~ Provide technical support for all Service department related vehicle quality improvement activities such as Initial Quality Survey, Vehicle Dependability Survey, Consumer Reports (CR), Fix Right First Time (FRFT).
~ Assist Product Quality Engineers in their investigative efforts by inspecting and installing warranty parts, and test driving vehicles with warranty parts.
~ Assist Product and Accessory Quality Engineers in performing Labor Time Studies for various procedures.
~ Provide technical support for Engineering and PR department activities as necessary, e.g., preparing vehicles and participating in PR department media events.
~ Work closely with Service Engineers to research reported or known problems and assist in the development and communication of repair solutions to Hyundai & Genesis dealer technicians.
~ Ensure that vehicle repair and maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner consistent with Hyundai policy.
~ Able to perform vehicle repairs, support media vehicle preparation, and rework activities as needed.
~ Authority to order vehicle repair parts and supplies as necessary to maintain fleet vehicles.
~ Authority to submit reoccurring invoices for payment of service items required for fleet maintenance.
~ Authority to authorize repairs of existing shop equipment.
~ Authority to outline workflow and distribution to current EGS technicians.
~ Must be a high school graduate
~ Bachelor's degree preferred
~ Five to six years of experience with and auto dealership as a technician or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skill / Knowledge:
~ Proficient with all shop support equipment (i.e., wheel balancer, tire mounting machine, alignment rack, etc.).
~ Proficient with advanced OBD-II diagnostic equipment, DVOM, and oscilloscope.
~ Some proficiency with diagnostic equipment related to SRS systems.
~ Ability to independently prioritize requests and multi-task.
~ Proficient with an office PC.
~ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook.
~ Basic report writing skills utilizing Word.
~ Advanced ASE certification preferred.
~ Valid CA driver's license.
~ Must be able to safely drive a motor vehicle fitted with mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment.
~ Must be able to repeatedly lift light to moderate loads (up to 45lbs).
~ This position requires travel for up to two weeks at a time, which include weekends and holidays, in support of various press events and other related activities.
