Warehouse Specialist (90 day Temp Position) (Government)

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, is responsible for laying out designated warehouse areas, storage configuration, establish and enforce, storage policies and procedures. Responsible for enforcing all safety, security, and maintenance programs and practices within storage areas. Responsible for the accountability and safeguard, of all items of supply and equipment in warehousing areas. Responsible for a variety of operational functions in the warehousing areas such as, receiving, storing, inventorying, shipping, issuing, packaging, palletizing, and transporting supplies and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Protect all items from damage or loss. Ensure only authorized personnel enter the warehouse and escort all personnel for safety and security reasons.
Loads and unloads trucks and other warehousing tasks. Reviews work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to verify correct movement and distribution of items. Inspects for damages, shortages, wrong items and other concerns; notifies appropriate person or vendor. Validates accuracy of material checked against freight bills and manifests.
Communicates effectively with units/organizations to coordinate deliveries and pick-ups, and resolve questions and issues.
Uses technical publications to identify material. Determines condition of non-mechanical material. Reviews inventory results, performs corrective actions, and records findings.
Operates a variety of material handling equipment, MHE; performs basic maintenance on MHE as required.
Responsible for enforcing all safety, security and maintenance programs and practices within storage areas. Maintains the warehousing areas and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
Assess warehouse needs and order supplies as appropriate.
Marginal Functions:
Performs other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years related military or civilian experience in supply and warehouse management, experience with GCSS-A platform preferred.
Must have or be able to obtain licenses/certifications as needed to perform duties. This requirement may include forklift certification.
Must have a valid and current state driver's license.
Must be able to complete paperwork associated with the position as required. Excellent written communications skills.
Must possess working knowledge of Logistics information system (LIS) and Software Application Programs (SAP).
Ability to work in a team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position selected applicants will be required to undergo drug screen, background checks.
This position requires completion of an extensive background check, and may require candidate to obtain a Secret clearance, US Citizenship is a requirement for consideration.
Keep detailed performance and maintenance records on weapons. Computer Skills and Experience is a requirement
Submit to ASO certification, licensing and training documents.
Physical Effort:
Work requires frequent lifting of weapons and subassemblies weighing 15 to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of heavy object in excess of 45 pounds with assistance. Work is performed in sitting, bending and/or standing position.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed at various U.S. Military locations in controlled and uncontrolled environment which can be hot, cold, wet, or dry. Work can be also performed in a shop type environment that is most times adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. The floor is of concrete which is fatigue producing from long periods of standing. Incumbent is subjected to hazards of cuts and bruises and eye injuries while using tools and equipment and there is danger of serious injury if/when function and test firing if weapon is not in safe condition.
Ensures that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/processed within operating guidelines. Guidance for the proper handling of hazardous materials/waste is obtained through formal training efforts and specific guidance issued by the supervisor. Ensures that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous material/waste are properly labeled and secured at all times. Reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Properly disposes of hazardous materials/waste used/generated at work site. Immediately notifies supervisor of any accident or spill and initiates response actions as directed by supervisor. Since exposure to hazardous materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant.

As appropriate, each employee is responsible for completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.
