Work Skills Trainer Enid (Project Management)



Under the guidance of the Program Manager and Instructor, the Project SEARCH Work Skills Trainer at the University of Oklahoma National Center for Disability and Education Training, located at INTEGRIS Health Enid Hospital, will deliver employability skills training to interns with disabilities. Additionally, the trainer will assist interns in developing and improving marketable job skills that lead to competitive, integrated employment. The Work Skills Trainer will support job development throughout the program and help interns secure competitive employment within the community. Once the
interns are employed; this position will provide ongoing support for the interns' first 90 days of employment.

Essential duties:

  • Organizes and coordinates clerical functions following established procedures. May supervise designated employees.
  • Responsible for organizing and coordinating specialized clerical functions.
  • Coordinates departmental personnel and payroll issues.
  • Controls delegated budgetary expenses.
  • Reviews and updates office procedures for a more efficient operation.
  • Assists students and provides information.
  • Handles complaints for internal and external customers
  • Reviews billing from contractors and vendors, making adjustments.
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems including confidential documents.
  • Handles cash accounts, credit cards and administrative billing.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
  • May select, train, and evaluate performance of assigned staff. May prepare staff schedules and track time worked.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist the instructor with recruitment plans, open houses, classroom activities, interviews, skills assessment process
    and teaching employability skills (e.g., self-advocacy, communication, accommodations, teamwork, problem-solving,
    budgeting, and career exploration).
  • Develop and teach job tasks and soft skills to interns.
  • Explore independent transportation options with the interns.
  • Identify interns' strengths, interests, and needs to determine suitable training methods.
  • Coordinate with the instructor and host business liaison to develop work rotations, providing varied experiences to build
    competitive skills.
  • Implement Model Fidelity, including Voce Fit and Complete all training modules available.
  • Identify and implement necessary accommodations or adaptations for interns' success in the classroom and on
    rotations.
  • Follow the rules and requirements of both OU-NCDET and INTEGRIS Health Enid Hospital.
  • Connect interns with resources and agencies to support competitive employment and independence.
  • Frequently assess intern progress and performance, communicate updates to the team, and provide interventions as
    needed. 

Required Education:  High School Diploma or GED and some College.

  • 18 months' experience in office supervision/management or student services.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Proficient navigating and maintaining databases
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Ability to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff

Required Working conditions:

  • Sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • May be required to bend, lift, stoop, and carry.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Regular pressure to meet productivity standards.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Experience working with youth with disabilities
  • Job coaching experience & certification
