Summary The HR Assistant will participate in helping with phone interviews, onboarding, and assigned projects for the corporate office. The HR Assistant will collaborate with the Senior HR Generalist and Recruiter at the corporate office in Grand Rapids, MI to meet company objectives. Essential Functions · Responsible for being the first contact for warehouse applicants and scheduling phone interviews. · Responsible for applicant tracking in our HRIS. · Assists Senior HR Generalist with onboarding, wellness program tracking, safety committee meetings, audits, and filing. · Participates in administrative staff meetings. · Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations as it pertains to position. · Performs other special projects as required and assigned. Competencies · Involves frequent contact with personnel inside and outside the Company requiring reasonable tact, discretion, self-expression, and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies, and procedures. · Must have a working knowledge of employment laws, anti-discrimination laws, and policies. · Must be accurate, timely, and be able to handle confidential material professionally. · Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and have the ability to promote harmonious relationships with staff, peers, and supervisors. · Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Work Environment This job operates in an office environment that is within a distribution center facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours listed are general hours and may be altered as needed. Additional hours may be required to fulfill job duties and position expectations. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Education and Experience · Some education beyond high school with a focus on HR/Management is preferred. · Experience in recruiting for warehouse and/or transportation environments is preferred.
