Simulation Operations Specialist II (Finance)

Prime Functions:

The Simulation Operations (SIM Ops) Specialist II - Technology Expert for the College of Nursing will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and technical support of simulation technologies and environments used in undergraduate, graduate, and interprofessional learning.

The Technology Expert plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of simulation equipment and systems, including high-fidelity manikins, audiovisual (AV) platforms, task trainers, and related software. It requires both technical proficiency and the ability to collaborate with simulation program leadership, faculty, simulation educators, and operations staff in delivering high-quality experiential learning events.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor's degree in a field related to the discipline of work and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved to a total of six years.

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.

Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CHSOS certification or eligibility within 12 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, healthcare, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in simulation operations, IT support, biomedical technology, or related technical field.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of simulation-related equipment (e.g., Laerdal, CAE, Gaumard), AV systems, and software platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, learner-centered environment.
  • Experience working in academic or healthcare simulation programs.
  • Familiarity with SimCapture, LearningSpace, or other video debriefing platforms.
  • Knowledge of networked AV systems, server-based applications, and remote learning technologies.

Simulation Technology Maintenance and Management:

  • Serve as the lead technical resource for simulation equipment, performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and simulation-related hardware.
  • Manage software platforms and updates related to simulation systems (e.g., SimCapture, Laerdal LLEAP, Gaumard UNI, Canvas, and/or LearningSpace).
  • Develop and maintain documentation and tracking procedures to ensure equipment reliability and readiness.
  • Partner with Materials Manager (SIM Ops Specialist II), vendors and institutional IT services to coordinate repairs, technical support, and replacement of simulation technologies.

Simulation Event Setup and Support:
  • Prepare and set up skills labs, simulation rooms, and equipment, for scheduled learning activities according to scenario design and faculty requirements.
  • Operate simulation equipment and audiovisual (AV) systems during sessions, providing remote and in-person support as needed.
  • Collaborate with simulation program leadership, SIM Ops specialists, simulation educators, and faculty to ensure simulation environments are realistic, functional, and psychologically safe for learners.
  • Support SP encounters by managing AV setup, room configuration, recording processes, and data capture.

Technology Integration and Innovation:
  • Support the adoption and integration of new technologies into the simulation program, including augmented/virtual reality tools, wearable sensors, and digital assessment platforms.
  • Collaborate with simulation leadership and operations team members on workflow improvements and innovations in technical delivery.
    • Provide training and support to faculty, simulation educators, adjuncts, and operations team members on the proper use of simulation equipment and systems.

Collaboration and Training:
  • Participate in simulation team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and consultations on the integrations of simulation technologies in experiential learning events.
