Occupational Health Nurse/Safety Coordinator (Sales)
Occupational Health Nurse / Health & Safety Coordinator The individual in this position will be responsible for coordinating the overall health and safety programs at our manufacturing plant in Birmingham, Alabama. The Occupational Health Nurse will provide first aid services for individuals that are injured or become ill at the facility and actively manage all workers compensation and short-term disability cases. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing employee programs such as health education, accident prevention, wellness and the OSHA and Sterilite required safety training programs. Responsibilities include the following: Provide direct care for the treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses using established medical protocols and refer for further evaluation or treatment as necessary. Collaborate with management to further the objectives of health and safety programs. Actively manage all workers compensation and short term disability cases which includes the initial processing of documents, consulting with insurance carriers and medical providers while continually monitoring the employees recovery process in an effort to accelerate the return to work process and reduce costs. Oversee occupational health surveillance testing including pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, vision screening, etc. Coordinates the annual OSHA and Sterilite required safety training such as lock out tag out, hot work, first aid and CPR etc. Collect and analyze data to establish health priorities and interventions.
