Summary: Provide compliance auditing, sampling and technical food safety support to B&G Foods- affiliated entities.
Principal Accountabilities:
Responsible for data collection, document control, and record keeping within the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department at B&G foods, Yuma facility. Coordinate documentation for WIP (work in progress) and finished products according to written SOPs (standard operating procedures) and sampling plans, to ensure that regulatory, internal, and customer standards and specifications are met. Manage departmental document workflow procedures to facilitate document retrieval, archiving, and monitoring. Verify departmental documentation compliance against pertinent SOPs, federal regulations, industry guidelines and company procedures. Enforce internal and customer food safety requirements. Assist with 3rd party Audit coordination. Conduct and/or coordinate sampling of product and environmental sampling. Verify and maintain laboratory microbiological testing results based on standardized SOPs. Assist in the post cleaning and Pre-operational Inspection. Schedule audits and visits, handle calls, and perform other administrative functions as necessary. Ensure company compliance to policies and procedures defined in internal Quality Management System (QMS). Compile, analyze, and proactively communicate quality results and/or issues to Production and Quality management. Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills. One (1) to five (5) years experience in the produce industry in a capacity related to food safety. Skills in the operation of Microsoft Office and internet applications, notably MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint. Strong attention to detail. Minimum five (5) years industry experience in food safety and quality areas, extensive knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Ability to write and speak in Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Science and/or Agriculture-related field. Experience with food safety management and program building in the produce industry. Advanced or proficient software skills in MS Office applications
Physical Demand:
Required to sit for long periods of time while in the office or traveling. Physical effort required (ability to move 25 lbs. from one area to another), walk long distances to collect field samples. Exposure to extreme heat and cold environments.
