The Aird lab at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Lab Manager. The lab is focused on the cellular metabolic regulation of cancer using cellular and molecular techniques as well as animal models. The Lab Manager will work independently but will also have the opportunity to work closely with the principal investigator on a variety of responsibilities. These responsibilities include day-to-day lab management, training and supervising lab personnel, as well as laboratory components of research projects, analyzing collected data and creating scientific reports. The ideal candidate is well-organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include independently designing and performing cell culture and advanced cell and molecular biology experiments; performing immunohistochemistry; performing mouse work and associated procedures; independently troubleshooting experiments; learning new techniques and writing protocols; analyzing and interpreting all experimental data that is generated using multiple software platforms and providing publication-quality figures for manuscripts and grants; training and supervising lab members in experimental procedures; interviewing lab members and providing feedback; and general laboratory management and maintenance. A Master's Degree in biological sciences or a related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a cell biology laboratory is desired. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for education/experience listed. Willingness to work with pre-clinical mouse models is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and GraphPad PRISM software, as well as a willingness to learn new software is expected.Experience in a cell biology laboratory is required.
