Role description:

Arcadis is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer in the municipal water/wastewater industry to join our growing Resilience team in Phoenix, Arizona.

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will collaborate with our experienced team of professionals, providing technical and design consulting services with a focus on instrumentation, controls systems, and associated network and communications infrastructure for municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.

Role accountabilities:

As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer you will:

  • Work in a collaborative environment, evaluating and designing control system solutions to meet client needs.
  • Prepare technical memorandums and develop design criteria, SCADA system architectures, communications system and network designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, specifications, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and other I&C design documents.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project.
  • Perform engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment and software submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information).
  • Conduct field inspections, overseeing projects in construction which includes identifying deviations from design, performing general QA/QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance.
  • Participate in factory testing, site acceptance testing, field inspections, and startup.
  • Provide electrical design and coordination for various projects simultaneously with an emphasis on medium and low voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding systems for water/wastewater projects.
  • Travel will be required to support project needs, mainly in the Phoenix area (approximately 5 to 10% of time).

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or controls engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • 0-3+ years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in the water/wastewater field.

Key Skills and Attributes::
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments at once while meeting project deliverable dates and completing other task-driven assignments
  • Experience in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment
  • Basic understanding of industrial network design and implementation
  • Basic knowledge of Autocad and Revit
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook)
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel for site specific services

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $91,800. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
