Position Summary:
The main responsibilities for this research associate position are to perform hands-on laboratory experiments in molecular biology and protein chemistry under the supervision of a senior scientist and/or faculty member at the Institute. The main research projects are: proteomic technology development; proteomic sample preparation and protein digestion; LCMS analysis; LCMS-related technology development, and biomarker discovery using body fluid samples (e.g., urine, saliva, plasma, sputum). Biomarker discovery experiments include the processing of clinical samples using standard procedures of operation. The Intern will support scientific investigations at the Institute and assist with the organization of team activities and training tasks related to ongoing projects. Other responsibilities are recordkeeping and analysis of research data derived from the experiments. Laboratory experience with shotgun proteomics techniques and/or analytical protein chemistry is desirable but not required.
