Store Manager (Sales)

SUMMARY:
The Store Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all activities necessary to operate a profitable store. The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the store by ensuring that the store exceeds its goals and standards in terms of financial performance, customer satisfaction, visual merchandising, store operations, staff training and development and in maintaining the overall appearance of the store. The Store Manager is responsible for the protection of Company assets. The Store Manager is expected to display and encourage selling skills that lead to high sales productivity and to motivate staff members to exceed goals and expectations set forth by the company.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives the Penguin Experience
Leads by example in exceeding company standards for excellent customer service.
Ensures customers are greeted within 30 seconds with a smile and a warm invitation to shop upon entering the store.
Achieves excellent scores on secret shopper reports.
Promotes merchandise and demonstrates product knowledge to customers and assists them with any requests.
Financial Objectives
Exceeds store financial objectives in the areas of sales goals, comp store increases, sales per square foot, expense control, units per transaction, payroll percent and shrinkage.
Initiates and promotes sales contest and promotional directives set forth by the company.
Operational Responsibilities
Communicate regularly with District / Area Manager regarding operating and merchandise issues.
Maintains appropriate staffing levels based on business trends and payroll guidelines.
Develops store staffing schedules to assure appropriate store coverage, which will provide superior customer service.
Supervises leads and motivates staff members.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all operational procedures set forth by the company.
Reviews and audits store processes, transactions and paperwork to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Approves and verifies voids, refunds, exchanges and employee purchases.
Ensures accurate and timely completion of all necessary paperwork required for the store operation.
Supervises operations and implement plans to maximize sales and profit.
Approves all time off requests of staff.
Adheres to and is in compliance with all policies and procedures set forth by the company.
Visual Merchandising
Instructs and participates in visual merchandising standards and directives set forth by the company.
Ensures replenishment of merchandise on selling floor as needed.
Ensures all company sale and markdown directives are completed in a timely manner.
Ensures basic stocks are at planned levels.
Ensures compliance with visual presentation standards set forth by the company.
Loss Prevention
Responsible for the protection of the Company assets (Inventory, Cash, Store fixturing and all other company property).
Communicates all loss prevention occurrences to District Manager and Loss Prevention Manager.
Practices excellent customer service at all times in order to prevent possible theft.
Adheres to and upholds all policies and procedures regarding loss prevention.
Monitors and ensures compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures.
Training and Development of Staff
Trains motivate, develops and leads the staff in the areas of customer service, operations, loss prevention, and store maintenance and merchandise presentation.
Creates and promotes a team atmosphere where employees work cooperatively and effectively to meet store performance goals.
Establishes challenging sales goals for each Brand Rep and assures that the goals are achieved in order to improve productivity. Follows up monthly with the Brand Rep performance recap.
Holds store meetings in order to communicate company information and directives to the staff.
Mentors, coaches and counsels staff members on skills and competence in an effort to ensure promotable staff members.
Supervises and delegates tasks to staff members.
Develops and trains staff in areas such as recruiting, employee coaching and counseling, etc.
Coaches and develops your team to exceed results in all areas of measured performance.
Miscellaneous
Provides strong leadership to staff and creates a positive work environment.
Displays a positive attitude with regard to the company and company objectives.
Informs District / Area Manager of store performance, concerns, and needs on a regular basis.
Ensures compliance of all staff members in regards to all policies and procedures set forth by the company.
