Role description:
Arcadis is currently searching for a Structural Engineer - with 2 years' relevant experience, to join our Water Business Line - Water Management team in support of our flood resiliency design work nationwide.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join our nationally recognized technical staff and utilize their expertise and knowledge of flood control infrastructure design & construction for career growth. This is a full-time position at our office location in Baton Rouge, LA.
Role accountabilities:
Provide Structural Engineering support to our national practice of flood resiliency design for a number of Flood Control Projects featuring T and L-type concrete floodwalls, combi wall, roadway access gates such as swing gates and roller gates, hydraulic closure structures such as sector gate, vertical lift gates, Tainter gates and sluice gates, stormwater/drainage pump stations, outfall structures, retaining walls, small scale control buildings, shallow and deep foundations (piles, drilled shafts) etc.
Prepare structural design calculations, portions of technical reports as well as the development of engineering plans and specifications and quantity estimates for various projects.
Work effectively in collaborative environments and establish strong relationships with the Project and Client teams.
Provide engineering support during construction thru submittal reviews, review of changes initiated by construction contractors, and site visits with accompanying trip reports.
Aid with functional engineering areas (meetings, correspondence, etc.)
Conduct site visits and field surveys as necessary to assess field conditions.
Will work directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle, and therefore should have clear and concise, oral and written communication skills.
Competence to read and understand with various building codes, FEMA guidance and especially USACE Engineering Manuals, Technical Guidance Documents to ensure compliance.
Adhere to Arcadis practices, including but not limited to maintaining a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, quality, rules & regulations and enforcing safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; preferably with an advanced degree such as masters or PhD.
2 years of structural design experience for large heavy civil infrastructure projects; preferably experience with flood resiliency design.
Skills and Abilities
Experience in structural design related to steel, concrete etc.
Experience in preparing and reviewing project drawings and cost estimates.
Familiarity with STAAD Pro, Mathcad, MicroStation.
Basic understanding and experience with Bentley MicroStation Suite, Revit
Experience of working in collaborative environments such as Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk BIM360.
Functional experience with MS Office applications.
