Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Cohn Baughman is a captive insurance and reinsurance coverage law office of Century Indemnity Company, a subsidiary within the Chubb Group of Insurers. The firm recently celebrated its 28th anniversary. Cohn Baughman specializes in litigating complex insurance coverage matters throughout the U.S. for Chubb Companies that arise out of environmental, toxic tort, asbestos and other sophisticated claims. The firm also provides legal advice and opinions for Chubb Companies on myriad coverage issues. Our firm also represents Chubb Insurers in reinsurance matters, including arbitrations. We have an immediate opening in our primary office in Chicago, Illinois, or in our offices in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey or Los Angeles, California (Aiwasian & Associates) for an attorney with experience in insurance coverage litigation and/or reinsurance arbitration. Skills should include drafting pleadings and motions, written discovery, taking and defending depositions, appearing in trial and appellate courts, and participating in settlement meetings and mediations. The candidate also should be knowledgeable about general liability coverage, and coverage issues relating to environmental, toxic tort and asbestos claims. Excellent analytical, negotiation and written and oral advocacy skills are required, as well as an understanding of key insurance and/or reinsurance coverage concepts.

Education & Experience:
Candidate must have significant experience in coverage litigation and/or reinsurance, preferably matters involving “longtail” claims such as environmental and asbestos. Candidate also must have graduated from an accredited law school, preferably in the top third of his or her class. Illinois, New Jersey or California Bar admission required.

The pay range for the role is $125,800 to $215,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
In acknowledgment of the pay range guidance provided above, the total compensation for this particular role can exceed $250K+ for the right candidate.
