Building Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the building operations for the School of Nursing (Victoria Building), including day-to-day needs of the residents of the building, general problems with the building, construction projects, space management, floor plan design, etc. Work with assistant dean on proposals for facilities upgrades. Budgetary responsibilities include managing a discretionary building budget of $30,000 with expenditure approval, participation in monitoring/follow-up of an additional $150,000 in expenses annually. Interrelationships associated with the position (both internal and external) present a strong need for an individual with excellent people skills. Work originates from many sources including the Dean, Assistant Dean for Administration, department chairs, associate deans and directors, department administrators as well as faculty and staff under the guidance of the Assistant Dean. Deadlines are constant and need to be met. Strong computer skills including Access, word processing software and Excel are required. Ability to find solutions to complex issues, act immediately in crisis situations and handle confidential information is crucial.Five to six years' experience required with demonstrated skill in project management and budget management. Management skills acquired through formal education or on the job training. Knowledge of University systems and established contact with University constituents is preferred but not required. Working knowledge of blueprints. Knowledge of procedure for infectious waste management.
