Application Specialist (Project Management)

As one of the primary client-facing members of Energy Solutions, the Application Specialist is a critical member of the organization. The Application Specialist will work as a consultant to understand clients' issues to deliver a resolution. The Application Specialist is also a primary conduit between the client and ESI product development for issues, defects and enhancements. While working through these challenges, the Application Specialist must always focus on customer satisfaction.

In order to effectively complete activities, the Application Specialist must build rapport and credibility with the client through the display of application expertise. Clear communication skills are an absolute requirement. The Application Specialist must be comfortable in collaborating with the client in a variety of scenarios for issue reporting and application training.

The position requires communication skills and a sense of what it means to deliver customer value every day. Energy Solutions expects that the delivery of the resolution is in a timely manner.

  • Primarily responsible for providing resolutions of one or more software products
  • Researches problems and reports findings
  • Identifies the cause of various issues and ability to formulates resolutions or a work-around
  • Provides technical assistance support to customers, utilizing systems and data to resolve complex business issues
  • Logs and documents all issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Prioritizes and differentiates problems
  • Works with development and services staff to resolve critical issues
  • Develop expertise in the application, configuration and design of ESI product lines
  • Advises on client-specific application configurations
  • Participates on functional, regression and performance testing
  • Manages change requests; provides level of effort regarding scope of deliverables
  • Reviews technical design specifications
  • End user support and training

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar technical field and 3+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, including web-based applications
  • 1+ year of experience with OO (C# or Java)
  • 1+ year with C#
  • Willingness to be on call for extended hours

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • 3-5 years of experience in software engineering
  • Good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen
  • Good judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Passionate about technology
  • Customer Support experience
  • Oil & Gas industry experience
