Commercial Truck Driver (Project Management)
Driving is the main responsibility of a commercial truck driver. While some may need to load or unload cargo.
Keeping a logbook of driving activities to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing the rest and work periods for operators.
Drivers also keep a record of vehicle inspections
Drivers make sure truck is equipped with safety equipment
Drivers plan their route according to delivery schedule
Drivers may be responsible for obtaining signatures from recipients
Requirements
A Class A CDL is required to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 23,001 lbs. or more, to include a towed vehicle that is HEAVIER than 10,000 lbs. While your towing allowances will depend on which endorsements you obtain, a few of the vehicles you MAY be able to drive with a Class A CDL (with proper endorsements) include:
Tractor-trailers
Truck and trailer combinations
Double and Triple trailers
Tractor-trailer buses
Tanker vehicles
Flatbeds
Other requirements include
Proven work experience as a truck driver
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
No serious tickets or accidents in the last 5 years
No DWI/DUI in last 10 years
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
Trucking school diploma
Valid truck driving licence and valid DOT medical clearance
