Deli Event Planner (Finance)
Full-Time, salaried position $45,000 - $50,000, depending on experience
3% of service fees for approximately $5,000 + a year in addition to base salary
Paths to wage increase within the first 9 months of employment and beyond
A typical work week is 40-50 hours, and up to 55 hours per week during the busy season (May - November)
Shifts are typically 8 - 10 hours - availability for some early morning and late evening shifts a must
Reports to: Event Manager (also reports to Catering Director)

Performance Expectations:
Essential Functions:
Respond to requests for Event Proposals as assigned
Is the primary guest contact for their client list
Provide bid proposals for guest's event, and adjusts as necessary, within our service standards
Estimate needed service staff, bar staff, and kitchen staff hours for events
Schedule, coordinate and execute event tastings as needed
Communicate menu details with the Production Manager, and recommend portion sizes based on specific client needs
Manage the rental booking, delivery and return of rentals and equipment for their events
Create service plan and timeline for events
Is present at the start of the majority of events they book throughout the year, greeting the client and ensuring a smooth handoff of information to captains, chefs, and service staff
Execute the event according to Zingerman's standards
Ensure service staff meet and exceed expectations
Seek and report client feedback after events
Attend the weekly Events planning meetings
Calculate adjustments to the client's bill based upon actual service and consumption
Solicit deposits for booked events and ensure final payment is made
Conduct all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Bottom Lines
Give exceptional service to all guests at our events
Handle the unexpected with a positive, proactive and professional attitude
Manage bar costs and sales for all catering events and maintains agreed upon profit margin for alcohol sales
Manage good working relationships with all alcohol distributors
Other Functions:
Assist with event set up/breakdown as needed
Help develop sales opportunities through repeat guests, referrals, and community connections
Success Patterns: (these items are preferred but not required - ability and willingness to learn is valued above experience)
3 years or more experience in an Event Planner role
Able to type at least 40 words per minute
Experience giving customer service over the phone and in person
Experience in a restaurant, catering department, or on events
Strong skills in data entry, and with Google Applications including Google Docs and Sheets
Experience with catering software (specifically Caterease)
Experience with documenting systems and following SOP's
Enjoys doing a mix of both office administration work and on hand management of event execution
High level of integrity and honesty
Has a desire to constantly learn and be challenged
Has excellent written and verbal communications skills

Well organized, strong follow-through with all tasks
Timely and accurate
Excited about systems and continuous improvement
Is extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently and also be a proactive member of a team
