Role description:
Arcadis has an immediate need for an Asbestos Field Inspector. The role includes performing field work for asbestos-related projects, such as inspections, abatement monitoring/oversight, and air sampling. Additional tasks also include indoor air quality (IAQ)/mold investigations, IH exposure monitoring, remediation oversight, building characterization assessments, report preparation, etc. This position will be based in Syracuse, New York, but may also include travel throughout the state or to surrounding States or elsewhere in the U.S. as needs arise. Job specific training will be provided by Arcadis, as needed.
Role accountabilities:
Routinely interact/communicate with Arcadis task managers, project managers, and leaders; abatement contractors; consultants; and client personnel
Support project teams as needed.
Perform inspections/surveys for asbestos, lead, mold (water intrusion), and other regulated building materials.
Provide written and/or electronic project field notes, sampling summaries for work conducted.
Perform project oversight, documentation, and air monitoring for asbestos, mold, and other types of remediation activities at a variety of facilities including but not limited to: commercial, public, schools, financial, retail, industrial, chemical, manufacturing, oil/gas, etc.
Task Management and scheduling, prepare written and/or electronic reports.
Interfacing with internal and external Arcadis clients to ensure on time and satisfactory performance on projects as well as staying within the proposed budgets.
Must be willing to travel as needed. Travel may include single overnight trips, several weeks, or longer-term assignments.
Candidate is expected to be flexible as work hours may include nights and weekends, or extended shifts beyond 8 hours depending on the project.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
Must be able to pass medical exam and medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment throughout an 8-hour shift.

2 Years minimum of experience with asbestos, mold, lead, or related Industrial Hygiene work.
NY Department of Labor Licensed Asbestos Inspector
NY Department of Labor Licensed Asbestos Project Monitor
Preferred Qualifications:
AS or BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred. Minimum education: High School
General understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, building construction
General understanding of building renovation and demolition
Ability to work on teams as well as independently with minimal direct supervision
