About the Role

The Applications Engineer I provides technical sales support for Hexagon products, with a focus on metrology applications, demonstrations, training, and contract programming. This role bridges technical expertise with customer engagement to ensure successful adoption of Hexagon's advanced measurement solutions. This is an onsite role out of our Novi, MI facility.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver compelling demonstrations of Hexagon's hardware and software to prospective customers, clearly communicating benefits for complex metrology applications.
  • Partner with the regional sales team to recommend solutions aligned to customer needs.
  • Develop and conduct customer training sessions in machine operations and programming, fostering strong relationships through effective knowledge transfer.
  • Prepare technical specifications for quotations and create programs ranging from simple inspections to complex logic-based graphical user interfaces.
  • Provide technical support both on-site and remotely, driving issues through to resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with engineering and marketing teams on new product development, from early concepts to market release.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to small groups.
  • Proficiency in programming and familiarity with 3D CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as needed to support customers.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with frequent use of computers and office equipment.
  • Regular movement between office and customer sites, including factory environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and communication with employees and customers.
  • Occasional lifting and movement of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel required up to 50% domestically.
