Community Solutions, Inc. has a rare opportunity for a professional and knowledgeable Accountant to join our dedicated finance team at our Central Office location in Bloomfield, CT. In this role, you will assist the Controller in maintaining accounting records to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and with applicable regulatory requirements (federal, state and local).

Essential Functions:
Maintain an interrelated group of accounts including classifying and recording transactions, making trail balances, reconciling accounts and preparing automated finical statements.
Examine financial documents to ensure accuracy and conformance with requirements by reviewing related records.
Manage cash flow by tracking day to day cash activities for CSI and its affiliates. Perform monthly bank and investment reconciliations; including making journal entries, correction entries and resolving the source of problem areas.
Process monthly mortgage and notes payable journal entries and analyze balances, escrows and interest. Verify amortization schedule and analyze short term versus long term portion of mortgage and notes payable.
Record and maintain CSI and affiliates prepaid reporting and reconciliation. Record monthly expense transactions as required.
Record and maintain CSI and affiliates schedule of deposits, review rent monthly rent payments and review back to source documents.
Review and record investment projects approved by Agency Board of Directors' and provide monthly report. Record transactions as necessary.
Maintain the Fixed Asset module, prepare fixed asset roll forwards and related analytics in area of responsibility. Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules and associated depreciation. Record depreciation to financial statements. Maintain support documents for agency purchase of fixed assets.
Analyze accounting transactions and activities related to CSI's affiliated companies, including inter-company/affiliate reconciliations and monthly settlements. Reconcile all intercompany accounts.
Compute standard rations based upon financial covenants or as required by Senior Management. Review, analyze, correct and provide appropriate support for programs related to the monthly variance analysis reports.
Assist in preparation of Agency financial audits, including detailed analysis of accounts and reconciliations. Assist in preparing year-end audit work papers and lead sheets.
Review and analyze balance sheet activity, prepare reconciliation and support schedules and post adjustments.
Analyze workers' compensation premium payments and prepare monthly work papers related to workers' compensation prepaid and expense accounts. Analyze workers' compensation expense by program relative to rates charged by insurance carrier and make adjustment as necessary.
Develop and implement internal financial controls in compliance with grant and audit requirements. Provide input on controls that will ensure data integrity that meet the needs of the CFO and Board of Directors'. Establish, streamline and monitor internal controls, financial reporting, policies and procedures.
Match bank deposits to internal documentation. Verify deposit amounts. Test subsistence documentation submitted by programs.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management or related field. Education may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.
One year experience in accounting or financial reporting. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills desired. Preference given to experience in non-profit accounting.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills required with ability to understand financial covenants and ratios.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently or with others.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Previous assessment experience preferred
Proven ability with Microsoft Office and general accounting software.
