Director of Exploration and Land Management (Biotech)
Arcosa Aggregates is searching for a Director of Exploration and Land Management located in our Arlington, Texas office. In this role you will support a positive safety culture by directing the activities and staff within an aggregate mining environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. As the Director of Exploration and Land Management, you will provide geologic and land management support for the Arcosa Aggregates and Specialty Products business unit, collaborate with operations for geology, reserve evaluation and mine plans, and manage lands related to mining. You will also serve as a mentor to junior staff concerning field data collection, geologic and mining software, geologic reports as well as other criteria related to the aggregate mining industry.
What you'll do:
• Develop and implement strategies that help grow the company's aggregates reserves
• Manage and develop exploration targets and related properties
• Plan drilling programs for exploration
• Prepare the annual exploration budgets consistent with established financial guidelines and business planning purposes
• Create and manage aggregate reserve reports and annual updates
• Lead, develop and maintain an exploration team to further the objectives and strategies for various sites and regions
• Interact with plant managers, area managers and business leaders to ensure that effective projects are undertaken, which are directed at meeting the needs of the mine sites.
• Ensure projects are completed on-time, on-budget and to required standards.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and codes of conduct.
• Initiate, implement, evaluate and modify projects and plans in response to needs.
What you'll need:
• B.S. in Geology (M.S. preferred) with P.G. registration;
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in managing mining-related geologic projects and support for mining companies
• Working knowledge of core drilling rigs and exploration techniques used in mining and geologic assessments
• Working knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations as they relate to aggregate mining
• Working knowledge and proficiency with mapping software and related data driven software, as well as drones, for illustrating land issues and quantifying aggregate reserves and subsurface conditions at various mining sites to management and operations staff
• Demonstrated experience building a staff as well as supervising technical and administrative personnel
• Demonstrated success in the development of mining related projects
• Ability to prepare and review geologic reports and related plans
• Ability to speak and write professionally.
